Long An Province Pursues Green Investment and Infrastructure Growth in Europe

Long An province is making bold strides on the international stage, with a trade and investment promotion trip to Europe from November 11 to 21, 2024. Led by Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the People’s Council Nguyen Van Duoc, the delegation aims to foster economic cooperation and attract investment in green transformation projects. This initiative not only signals Long An’s ambition to enhance its international relations but also reflects a strategic pivot towards sustainable development in the region.

Upon arrival in Paris, the delegation wasted no time, engaging in discussions with the Soletanche Freyssinet Group, a prominent player in global infrastructure construction. With a rich history spanning over 80 years and involvement in more than 10,000 projects annually, the group has made significant contributions to Vietnam’s infrastructure landscape since its establishment in the country in 2003. Projects like the Keangnam Landmark Tower and the Hai Van Tunnel stand testament to their expertise. Mr. Manuel Peltier, Chairman of Soletanche Freyssinet Group, expressed a keen interest in exploring further investment opportunities in Long An’s transport infrastructure.

Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Van Son reciprocated this enthusiasm, highlighting transport infrastructure as a crucial economic lever for the province. He emphasized that Long An is prioritizing resources to complete major transport projects aimed at accelerating investment attraction and economic growth. Recent efforts have already seen the province advance key national transport initiatives and enhance regional connectivity, particularly through projects like the Tan An City Ring Road and Provincial Roads 823D, 830E, and 827E.

The provincial delegation is also making headway on the ambitious three-bridge project along DT.827E, which recently received government approval for funding through foreign preferential loans (ODA). With an investment of approximately 4.797 billion VND, this project aligns perfectly with the capabilities of seasoned construction firms like Soletanche Freyssinet, ensuring high-quality outcomes and timely completion. The partnership is expected to elevate Long An’s transport infrastructure while simultaneously stimulating economic development and regional connectivity.

In addition to meetings with Soletanche Freyssinet, the delegation is set to survey the Metro Grand Paris Express project, gaining insights into advanced technologies and management practices that can be applied back home. The working program includes participation in the Vietnam – France Trade and Investment Seminar, a Long An – Cologne Business Roundtable, and bilateral discussions with leading corporations in France, Belgium, and Germany across various sectors.

The trip is a critical component of Long An’s 2024 Investment Promotion Program, aimed at expanding international relations and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). By engaging with European partners, Long An is not just looking for capital; it’s seeking to share knowledge, foster innovation, and create a network of cooperation that can drive sustainable growth in the province.

As Long An forges these international connections, it stands at the forefront of a transformative era in the construction sector, where green initiatives and advanced infrastructure will define the future. The ripple effects of this trip could very well shape the province’s economic landscape, making it a beacon of modern development in Vietnam.
