EquipmentShare Opens Tech Hub, Marks Decade of Innovation

This week, EquipmentShare, a pioneering force in construction technology, celebrated two monumental achievements: its 10-year anniversary and the grand opening of its new Technology Development Center (TDC) in Columbia, Missouri. The event, attended by Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe, director of economic development Michelle Hataway, local leaders, community partners, and team members, marked a significant milestone for the company and the region.

The TDC, adjacent to EquipmentShare’s main campus, is more than just a new facility; it’s a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and growth. “This new Technology Development Center is proof of how far we’ve come — but it’s also just the beginning,” said Jabbok Schlacks, co-founder and CEO of EquipmentShare. “Columbia has always been our home, and we’re proud to keep investing in the place and people who helped launch our journey.”

Founded in 2015, EquipmentShare set out to revolutionize the construction industry through technological advancements. A decade later, the company has expanded to over 300 locations and employs 6,500 team members nationwide. The TDC represents a substantial investment in EquipmentShare’s long-term vision, housing its Research & Development, Engineering, and Learning & Development teams. These groups will collaborate to design and test cutting-edge technology, train team members, and enhance EquipmentShare’s proprietary operating system, T3.

The TDC’s Uptime Center is a standout feature, monitoring the health and performance of the nationwide fleet in real-time. This capability is crucial for reducing downtime and delivering exceptional service to customers, aligning with EquipmentShare’s mission to create a more productive, secure, and connected future for the construction industry.

The significance of this development extends beyond EquipmentShare. Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe highlighted the company’s impact on the local economy and community. “We’re pleased to see a Missouri-made innovator like EquipmentShare continuing to invest and create jobs in Columbia,” Kehoe said. “This company’s history of success shows what can be achieved through bold ideas, hard work and commitment to community. We congratulate EquipmentShare on reaching this milestone and look forward to its ongoing growth.”

Amy Susán, company ambassador and director of PR & Communications, emphasized the strategic importance of the TDC’s location. “The TDC will drive innovation and efficiency across our network while serving as a visible beacon of progress for our community,” she said. “Columbia is centrally located, allowing us to serve our team members across the country. We’re proud to deepen our roots here as we continue to grow nationwide and shape the future of the industry.”

As EquipmentShare looks ahead to the next decade, its focus remains on advancing technology, investing in talent, and driving industry-wide transformation. The TDC is not just a physical space; it’s a symbol of EquipmentShare’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in construction technology. The company’s ranking as No. 4 on the RER 100 underscores its leadership in the industry and its commitment to shaping a more sustainable and efficient future for construction.

This development is more than just a corporate milestone; it’s a call to action for the entire construction sector. As EquipmentShare continues to innovate, it challenges industry norms and sets new standards for sustainability and efficiency. The TDC is a beacon of progress, not just for EquipmentShare, but for the entire construction industry. It serves as a reminder that investment in technology and talent is not just a business strategy—it’s a commitment to a more sustainable future.
