Study Reveals Civil Engineering Students’ Interest in Construction Services

A recent study published in ‘Jurnal Pensil’ has shed light on the interest levels of civil engineering students in construction services, revealing critical insights that could influence the future of the construction sector. Conducted by Renata Shinta G Simamora, an alumna of the Civil Engineering Program at State University of Jakarta, this research involved a detailed survey of 50 undergraduate students from a larger population of 360.

The findings indicate a medium level of interest among students toward engineering construction services, with an overall average interest percentage of 132.8%. “Understanding what drives student interest in construction services is essential for shaping educational programs and industry engagement,” Simamora noted. The study categorized various indicators of interest: 32.68% of students expressed a desire to engage in construction, while 63.78% showed interest in the types of activities involved in the field. Notably, the effort indicator revealed a 34.84% interest, suggesting that while students are keen on the activities, there may be barriers to deeper engagement.
