3D PANEL System Tops Villa Construction in Northern Iran

A recent study published in the journal *مهندسی و مدیریت ساخت* (translated as “Engineering and Construction Management”) sheds light on the optimal selection of modern construction systems for villa buildings in northern Iran, with potential implications for the global energy sector.

Fatemeh Behdadfar, a graduate student of Civil Engineering and Construction Management at Islamic Azad University in Sari, Iran, led the research. Her study focused on three modern construction systems: 3D PANEL, Light Steel Frame (LSF), and Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF). The goal was to evaluate these systems based on economic, operational, and technical criteria to determine the most suitable option for villa construction in the region.

Behdadfar’s research began with an extensive literature review to understand the nuances of these systems. She then collected data through questionnaires, gathering insights from experts and contractors in Mazandaran province. The collected data was analyzed using the ELECTRE method, a multi-criteria decision-making tool that helps in ranking and selecting the best option among several alternatives.

The findings revealed that the 3D PANEL system emerged as the most appropriate structure for villa construction in northern Iran. “Considering all the criteria, the 3D PANEL system stood out due to its balance of economic viability, operational efficiency, and technical superiority,” Behdadfar explained.

The 3D PANEL system’s efficiency in construction speed and cost reduction can lead to more sustainable and energy-efficient buildings.
