Cozma’s study focuses on the adaptation of a 45 kW mining winch, typically used for horizontal traction and on inclined planes, for lifting mining equipment. “The challenge was to adapt a winch, usually designed for traction, to safely and efficiently lift heavy mining equipment,” Cozma explains. The study highlights that winches with powers greater than 40-50 kW share similarities with extraction machines, featuring safety brakes, load position indicators, and other automation elements.
